Booking an appointment

Routine appointments may be booked up to four weeks in advance.

Same day appointments are available for booking from 7am online and 8am by phone.

Emergency appointments are for an urgent medical problem that needs to be dealt with on the same day. Please ring reception and give a brief description to our receptionist who will forward your details to the GP.

Telephone appointments are available with the GPs for matters that can be dealt with by a brief conversation.

When we are closed

If you need medical services when we are closed please phone 111. The service will be able to give you telephone advice, arrange for a prescription to be sent to a local pharmacy, arrange for you to be seen or visited at home if needed.

111 is for when you need medical advice fast but it is not an emergency. It is available 24 hours, 355 days a year

Kingston Health Centre hosts GP services outside normal working hours for patients registered with GPs across Kingston. These extra clinics run on 5-8pm, on weekdays 8am-8pm on Saturday, 8am-2pm on Sunday. For a weekday appointment call reception, for weekend appointments call 020 3841 9942.

There are also clinics hosted at Surbiton Health Centre Saturday 8am-8pm, Sunday 8am -8pm and Merritt centre, Chessington Saturday and Sunday 8am-2pm. Phone 020 3841 9942

Online Services

These are provided through our online provider Patient Access and will enable you to

  • Book appointments online
  • Order repeat prescriptions
  • Medical record- view medical problem list, test results, immunisations and allergies

Interpreter services

Please let reception know at the time of booking an appointment if you need an interpreter.

Repeat prescriptions

If you are on regular medication when you join the practice, you will need to see the GP for an initial appointment to set up a repeat prescription. Repeat prescriptions can be requested in writing or online via the website. We do not routinely accept telephone medication requests for safety reasons. Please allow 48 hours for us to process your request. Prescriptions can be sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice.

Test results

Most blood test and X-ray results are back within 5 days but may take longer and the doctor will advise you when to phone reception for your results. Alternatively you can check online if you are registered for online services

Teaching and Training

Being involved in the training of future doctors and GPs is important to us at Kingston Health Centre. We have medical students, junior doctors and a GP specialist trainees in the practice.

Medical students from Imperial College, London have an 8 week placement. They are not yet qualified as doctors and are unable to undertake patient care. Patients are occasionally asked whether they would be willing to let a medical student sit in with the doctor during their GP consultation for teaching purposes. We are very grateful for your participation but please let reception know if you would rather see the doctor alone.

Foundation Year 2 (F2) doctors are in their second year after qualifying and have a 4 month placement to gain experience of general practice. They work under the supervision of a GP and are able to see patients independently and prescribe medicines.

Specialty Trainee (ST) doctors are completing their specialist training to become GPs and at Kingston Health Centre for 6-12 months, supervised by a GP trainer. They are able to see patients independently and prescribe medicines.

Home Visits

If you are housebound or too ill to attend the practice you can be visited at home by one of the doctors or the local Rapid Response Team. Please try to phone before 10am and our receptionist will take your details. The doctor will call you back to discuss your symptoms before visiting. It is always preferable to try to come down to the practice if it is possible as we have better facilities and equipment and it is likely that you will be seen more quickly this way.
