STI screening

We offer testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV. Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection, with young adults at highest risk. We offer screening by self-swab or urine test. For those who test positive, the infection is easily treated with a course of antibiotic. You do not need to book an appointment to have chlamydia screening. Please speak with the Reception team who have a room where they can speak with you privately away from the waiting area.

HIV testing- best to know

HIV is now a treatable medical condition and those with the condition can expect to remain fit and well on treatment. Despite this, a significant number of people are unaware of their HIV infection and remain at risk to their own health and of passing the infection on to others. Late HIV diagnosis can be more difficult to treat effectively. In Kingston more that 50% of those with HIV are diagnosed late . We offer all new patients the opportunity to have an HIV test and we would also recommend a test to anyone having a routine blood test if they have not already tested within the past year. You do not have to have to answer any unwanted personal questions or discussion before having the test.
