Winter Vaccinations at Kingston Health Centre
Depending on your age, health conditions and individual circumstances, you may be eligible for one or more vaccinations to help protect you against serious respiratory illness this winter.
Flu Vaccination
Those who are eligible are offered a vaccination (given annually) to help protected against the flu virus expected to circulate each winter.
The JCVI have updated the guidance and so there are a small cohort of patients who are eligible for their flu vaccination in September with the remainder of the eligible cohorts due after 1st October 2026.
Eligible in September for a flu vaccination ;
- Pregnant women
- Children aged 2 or 3 years old on 31st August 2026 (usually nasal flu)
- Children aged 6 months to under 18 years in a clinical risk group
Eligible in October for a flu vaccination ;
- Adults aged 65 years and over
- Adults aged 18 to under 65 years in a clinical risk group
- Residents of an older adult care home
- Carers
- Close contacts of those who are severely immunosuppressed
- Frontline health & social care workers
Covid vaccinations
We will aim to co-administer our flu vaccinations and covid vaccines together if patients are eligible. The Covid eligibility criteria has gone under a lot of change over the previous years but for the Autumn 26-27 programme, the following groups of patients are eligible
- Adults aged 75 or over (this is different to flu criteria)
- Patients who are immunocompromised as defined in the Green Book (xxx link)
- Residents of an older adults care home
Unlike flu vaccinations, we cannot directly order our covid vaccinations. These are allocated to us by our local NHS immunisations team and therefore we do not have much control over quantity or type of vaccine received.
RSV Vaccinations
RSV is a common respiratory virus that can cause severe lung infections such as pneumonia or bronchiolitis, particularly in older adults and pregnant women. The RSV vaccinations if not given annually and most adults only require one dose for long lasting protection.
Eligibility for RSV vaccination from September 2026 ;
- Aged 75 years or over
- Living in a care home for older adults
- Adults aged 65-74 years old with a diagnosis of severe asthma or COPD
Unlike flu & covid, we will not be able to co-administer this vaccination so this will not be given during the same appointment. We have a rolling recall for people who are eligible for the RSV vaccination and you will be invited by text message. If you would like to book you can always give us a call so we can arrange.
